COMMON NAME : Coast Saltbush

BOTANICAL NAME : Atriplex cinerea

FAMILY : Chenopodiaceae

PLANT GROUP : Shrubs

SIZE : Small <2m

EVC : Coastal Saltmarsh

LOCAL NOTES:

Shrub up to 2 metres in height but often dense and spreading in areas of wind at Shallow Inlet.

It has silver grey leaves and male and female flowers usually occur on separate plants.

Male flowers are pink-red purple in dense clusters, and female flowers are cream in axillary clusters. See images.

Flowering October to January.

Plants can be seen at Shallow Inlet above the high tide line.
