BOTANICAL NAME : Cakile marítima

FAMILY : Brassicaceae

PLANT GROUP : Weeds

SIZE : Small <2m

LOCAL NOTES:

Native to Europe and Africa.

This plant can be found along Sandy Point and Waratah Bay coastline and at Shallow Inlet.

Typically mauve pink, and flowering locally for much of the year. It grows to a height around 60 cm and then often sprawls to form a mound.

The plant can be easily hand pulled. When high tides and wild weather cause the coastal dune to erode the plant is often dislodged, being shallow rooted.
