This year we are introducing two new aspects to our survey. One is we are asking for spotters to report the sightings immediately so we can have volunteers conduct a cursory health check. The health check will be to look for signs of mange or injuries and to check mobility over time (are they just staying put over multiple days).
The other thing we are asking spotters and or volunteers to do is to get a full face photo of the adult koalas. WiSP will be implementing an individual koala identification technique developed and trialled by Janine Duffy of Clancy Koala and CSIRO.
