New native garden
The Sandy Point Men’s Shed were successful in receiving a grant from the South Gippsland Shire Council to fund the purchase of indigenous shrubs and grasses to plant on the south side of the new Marine Rescue/Men’s Shed. Our aims were to blend the space along the Ocean View Parade side of the building with the natural environment of Sandy Point, screen out the new septic system and provide native plants for the local birds and bees.
We are very lucky to have Rob and his Narkabundah Wildflower Nursery in town who provided the plants, mats and tree guards. There is an assortment of native shrubs and ground covers. In the coming weeks the garden will be covered with mulch.
With lots of volunteers on the day, the planting was done before smoko. Thanks to all that have contributed to another great project enhancing Sandy Point and in particular the central part of town.
