South African Daisy (weed)

Osteospermum ecklonis

COMMON NAME : South African Daisy

BOTANICAL NAME : Osteospermum ecklonis

FAMILY : Asteraceae

PLANT GROUP : Weeds

SIZE : Prostrate

LOCAL NOTES:

The South African Daisy is one of a number of daisies in the Osteospermum family that is at risk of becoming a garden escapee in the local sandy soil.

It readily spreads from gardens onto nature strips where it is mostly contained by roadside edges. On occasions it begins to spread into the coastal reserve. Careful monitoring by block owners reduces this risk.
