Marine Search & Rescue crisis

As reported in our quarterly newsletter, the Sandy Point Marine Search and Rescue Service (MSAR) is currently closed after local members have stood down from operations in protest at proposed changes in management.

After many years of unsatisfactory management by Life Saving Victoria, the MSAR crew believed they were on a path to establishing independence. Unfortunately, and without consultation, LSV then announced that they had decided to manage MSAR operations centrally in Melbourne.

The MSAR crew have written an extensive article to inform the community of the situation. Click here to read. This article was also published in the latest Sandy Point Newsletter, Winter 2022.
