After the event …

Due to the earlier than expected arrival of warm spring weather and frequent snake sightings the weeding that was planned for 16 September 2023 in the central banksia woodland area was revised. On Friday 15 September some pre activity assessment and track clearing had cleared English Ivy, and Thistles by whipper snipper and rakes and made the area safer for the activity for the following day. Group consensus was that focusing on clearing Vinca mayor from immediate trackside areas was an appropriate task taking into account these conditions.

12 keen volunteers then on Saturday afternoon dug out and raked, and again filled 8 green bins with weed material. All agreed that this task (removing Vinca major) was slow and challenging. Everyone will enjoy seeing the results of their work. After spraying the goal will be the planting of indigenous grasses where the Vinca has been removed.

Thanks Merryn, Graham and John for the extra work on the Friday and to everyone who braved the Vinca removal again on Saturday you are a truly amazing group!
